3 Steps to Save 5 Shots Inside 100 Yards Using TrackMan
Nov 05, 2025Every golfer knows the feeling — you’re sitting just 80 yards out, and instead of knocking it tight, you chunk it, skull it, or fly it 20 yards past the flag. You walk off the green frustrated, knowing you just gave another shot away.
At Texas Wedge, we see it all the time. That’s why Wade Fullingim put together a 3-step process using TrackMan that helps you turn those wasted shots into scoring opportunities.
You’re the hero of your golf story — we’re just here to guide you with the plan that works.
Step 1: Simplify Your Technique
Most golfers swing too long with their wedges. Wade teaches players to make shorter, more controlled swings — hands stopping at chin height on both the backswing and finish. This promotes a low, flighted wedge that’s easier to control.
📹 Use your TrackMan camera app to record your swing and make sure your hands stay below your chin at both ends. Focus on body rotation, not wrist flip.
Step 2: Dial in Distance Control
Once your technique is solid, it’s time to master distance. In TrackMan Range Mode, start with an 80-yard target and find the ideal swing length that consistently hits that number.
Then repeat for 70, 90, and 100 yards — no full swings allowed. The key is learning how far your half and three-quarter swings actually travel.
Step 3: Apply It on the Course (Performance Center)
Finally, move into Performance Center Mode to simulate real on-course wedge play. Set up shots between 50–100 yards and focus on hitting greens, not firing at every pin.
This practice teaches you course management — where to aim, when to be aggressive, and how to avoid costly misses.
When you can hit 85–90% of greens from 100 yards and in, your scores drop fast.
Final Thoughts
Improving inside 100 yards isn’t about more power — it’s about precision. Using TrackMan, you can measure, analyze, and master every shot.
If you’re ready to start saving 5–10 strokes a round, this is your blueprint.
