The 4 TrackMan Numbers You Need to Fix Your Driver
Dec 10, 2025The 4 TrackMan Numbers You Need to Fix Your Driver
Golfers want consistency off the tee, but most never understand what truly controls their ball flight. At Texas Wedge Indoor Golf, we help golfers identify the real reasons they struggle—because once you know what’s actually happening at impact, improvement becomes simple.
This guide breaks down the four numbers that matter most on TrackMan so you can finally understand why your driver behaves the way it does and what you can do to fix it.
1. Attack Angle: The Distance Maker
Your attack angle determines whether the club is moving up or down at impact.
• Downward = more spin and less distance
• Upward = longer, higher-launching tee shots
Most amateurs hit too far down. Moving the ball forward, adding slight side bend, and having the intention to “swing up” can completely change your results.
2. Club Path: The Slice and Hook Controller
Club path tells you whether the club is traveling left or right of your target line.
• Negative numbers = out-to-in (fade/slice pattern)
• Positive numbers = in-to-out (draw pattern)
If your path is more than ±4.5 degrees, you’ll struggle with curvature. Get your path into the right range and ball flight becomes predictable.
3. Face Angle: The King of Starting Direction
Face angle alone controls 80–85% of where the ball starts.
If your face is more than ±2 degrees open or closed, your dispersion explodes. But when you learn how to square the face consistently, everything tightens up—speed, distance, accuracy.
4. Smash Factor: The Efficiency Multiplier
This number tells you how efficiently you’re converting clubhead speed into ball speed.
• Optimal range: 1.47 to 1.50
Toe, heel, or low-face strikes drop your smash factor quickly. Cleaning up strike location is one of the fastest ways to gain distance without swinging harder.
